Let us be honest about what this car is, because it changes what you need from a manual.
The B10 A5 is barely two years old. It has no legendary failures yet. Nobody has a folder of known part numbers for it, and any listing claiming to document its “common faults” is inventing them.
What it does have is an entirely new electronic architecture, a 48-volt mild hybrid system, and a level of software dependence that makes guesswork actively dangerous. On this car, the manual is not there to tell you which part fails. It is there to tell you the correct procedure — because on a software-defined vehicle, doing the mechanical work right and skipping the calibration means the job is not done.
What the A5 B10 actually is
Launched in 2024, the B10 A5 replaces the A4 outright. Audi’s new naming logic assigns odd numbers to combustion cars and even numbers to electric ones, so the A4 nameplate has gone and its successor is called A5.
It is built on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) — a new architecture shared with the current Q5 and the incoming A6 — and it is sold in two body styles:
- Sportback — a four-door with a liftback tailgate. Audi calls it a sedan; it opens like a hatch.
- Avant — the estate.
There is no B10 coupé and no B10 cabriolet. Audi discontinued both body styles, and the last A5 Coupé was the B9. If you are looking for a two-door A5, you need the B9 documentation, not this.

Market availability varies. European cars generally carry the 48V MHEV plus system; North American cars generally do not. The documentation covers both configurations, because the presence or absence of that system changes the procedure for work as basic as removing the auxiliary belt.
MHEV plus — the 48-volt system
This is not the mild hybrid you may have met on older Audis. The MHEV plus system runs a powerful belt-driven generator and a separate 48V lithium-ion battery, and it can move the car on electric power alone at low speed, recuperate under braking, and restart the engine while coasting.
That means the belt drive is under load in both directions and the engine can start without warning while you are working on it.
Coverage includes the generator unit, the 48V battery, the DC/DC converter, the de-energisation and lockout sequence that must be completed before any work on the belt drive or the front of the engine, and the system’s fault codes. Read the de-energisation section before you touch anything.
The E3 electronic architecture — why this car is different
The B10 runs Audi’s E3 architecture: a small number of high-performance domain computers, connected over automotive Ethernet, running software that updates over the air.
Practically, this means three things:
- Diagnostics are not a matter of pulling a code and replacing the part it points at. Faults propagate across domains, and the code you see may be three steps downstream of the cause.
- Component replacement almost always requires coding and adaptation. A physically correct repair with no software step is an incomplete repair, and the car will tell you so.
- The software version your car is on affects behaviour, fault codes and procedures. Identifying it is the first diagnostic step, not an afterthought.
The documentation covers the network topology, the domain computers, the diagnostic entry points and the adaptation requirements. This is the section that will save you the most time.
Transmission and quattro
Seven-speed S tronic (dual clutch) — the only gearbox in the range. Oil and filter service, mechatronic diagnosis, clutch adaptation and basic settings.
quattro ultra — the on-demand all-wheel-drive system. It decouples the rear axle when it is not needed, using a clutch at the front and a decoupler at the rear differential. Its control logic, engagement conditions and fault tracing are documented. It behaves nothing like a permanent Torsen system and diagnosing it as though it does will send you in circles.
Shift-by-wire selector — no mechanical linkage to the gearbox. Selector faults, adaptation and emergency release.
Driver assistance and calibration
The B10 carries front radar, a forward camera behind the windscreen, corner radars and a full ultrasonic array.
Every one of them requires calibration after related work. The camera after a windscreen replacement. The radar after any front-end repair, bumper removal or alignment change. Skipping this leaves emergency braking and lane keeping operating on bad geometry — and on a car this new, that is not a theoretical risk.

Body, electrical and lighting
Full wiring diagrams, connector views and pinouts, Ethernet and CAN topology, the domain controllers, immobiliser and key adaptation, and fault code tables with measuring block references.
Lighting is worth calling out separately: the B10 uses digital OLED rear lights and configurable front signatures, with the modules addressed as software components rather than bulbs. Replacement and coding procedures are included.
Interior and body coverage includes the panoramic display assembly, panel removal sequences, trim clip locations and torque values.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a B10 A5 Coupé or Cabriolet?
No. Audi discontinued both body styles, and the last two-door A5 was the B9. The B10 is sold only as a Sportback and an Avant. If you have a coupé or a convertible, you need the B9 documentation instead — this will not help you.
Why does this manual not list “common faults” like your older listings do?
Because the car is too new to have any, and we are not going to invent them. A 2005 Audi has twenty years of accumulated failure data behind it. A 2025 Audi has almost none. What this set gives you instead is the correct procedure — and on a car this software-dependent, that is worth considerably more than a list of guesses.
Is the 48-volt MHEV plus system covered?
Yes — the generator unit, the 48V battery, the DC/DC converter and, most importantly, the de-energisation and lockout sequence. This system can restart the engine while you are working on it. Do not skip that section.
I replaced the windscreen. Do I need to do anything else?
Yes. The forward camera sits behind the glass and must be recalibrated. Without it, lane keeping and emergency braking are working from bad geometry. The procedure and target requirements are documented.
Can I just replace a module and drive away?
On this car, almost never. The E3 architecture requires coding and adaptation after most component replacements. A mechanically perfect repair with no software step is an incomplete repair, and the car will tell you so.
Does it cover the Avant as well as the Sportback?
Yes. Both body styles are included, with the bodywork and rear structure documented separately.
Will this work with VCDS or ODIS?
Fault codes, measuring blocks and adaptation channels are referenced throughout and map to ODIS. Be aware that the E3 architecture and its Ethernet-based diagnostics are more demanding than older VAG cars — check that your interface and software version actually support the B10 before you rely on it.
